Rosa Johnson and Anthony Cason Davis-Pait

As founder of Omi’s Oasis Garden Consultants, Rosa Johnson teaches urban farming and life skills to combat food insecurity. She is a grandmother to many, transforming her community through peace, art, unconditional love and a welcoming heart.

Anthony Cason Davis-Pait founded the North Star LGBTQ Center’s Youth Leadership Council as well as Mount Tabor High School’s ecology club. He believes the fight for trans liberation is intertwined with the fight for environmental and economic justice.

Rosa serves her neighborhood, located in a food desert, through her community garden. She has worked with Stevie Wonder, and helped start the Black Panther Party in Oakland. I was surprised by how easily Rosa and I were able to open up to each other. Rosa and I are going to work together on her garden and hopefully engage future high school students. I was very nervous when I got here, but I enjoyed this so much.

This young man is transgender. He is a courageous young man with concerns for our environment and the building of communities that are examples of diversity and growth along with healthy living. I wanted to capture his natural handsomeness, his light and love of life.
