Kiran Kapileshwari and Clara Yountz

A sharp problem-solver and nature lover, Kiran Kapileshwari challenges food insecurity and promotes environmental sustainability in Winston-Salem through urban farming and food education. “Humanity as a whole before self.”

Sometimes described as “the lady on the porch,” Clara Yountz is a warm and vibrant storyteller. She is a caring mother figure in her community and has opened her home to foster 125 youth in need.

Mrs. Yountz is a kind person, known to her peers as “the lady on the porch.” She brings her community (Ogburn Station) a warm, cozy and comforting feel. She loves children, and flowers and animals — and “life and the world.” She is the person everyone should strive to be.
